Frequently Asked Questions about Friday Arts Night
What ages are most appropriate for Friday Arts Night?
We’ve had children as young as three create their own clay projects. You know your child best, but as a general guideline we welcome children ages 3+ years with an adult. We have adaptive tools and our teachers are skilled at working with children and adults of all abilities.
What happened to Family Arts Nights? Is this the same thing?
Same program, slightly different name. We have so many teens and adults who like to participate, and they were worried that they needed to have children to attend! To include everyone, we simply changed the name. It just means we’re family-friendly and encourage family participation. We have plenty of adults who come with another adult friend or on their own!
Can I drop off my child for the class and leave?
Parents are part of the fun in this class! We offer other drop-off classes for children, but for Friday Art Night we require children under the age of 12 be accompanied by a paying adult. This may be a friend, caregiver, or parent.
Does everyone in our party need to pay for a ticket?
Our goal is to get each person involved in the creative process and to create a quality art experience at an affordable price. The cost is per person and per seat, not per project—so yes. Creating something side by side is a unique experience we think you’ll find enjoyable. We support our youngest artists and work to teach them how to create their own artwork. Due to limited space and the popularity of our Friday Art Nights, we cannot accomodate observers.
What if I can’t attend after I’ve already purchased a spot?
Once purchased, the Friday Arts Night tickets are non-refundable and cannot be credited to another night or class. You are welcome to give the tickets to a friend or donate them back for us to offer to families in the community who would like to attend but are unable to afford it.
How long will it take to get my clay piece back? If I live out of town, can you mail it?
Our turnaround time for projects is approximately 2-3 weeks. The pieces need to dry and go through two kiln firings. We will email you when projects are ready for pickup. If you’re not from the Traverse City area, we’re happy to mail your artwork to you for a small shipping fee.
